Alice believes that people don’t struggle with photography because they lack ability. They struggle because photography is usually taught as a collection of technical instructions, presented in an order that does not reflect how people actually perceive, understand and make decisions.
Alice has built a different way in.
OneStory™ is Photographic Education reimagined. It’s a simple three part system that places you in the middle and asks, “What is the Story that you want to tell?”
By shifting your attention from understanding how the camera works, back to you – an amazing thing happens. As you learn how to capture and shape the images you want, a delightful side effect is that you will suddenly notice that you are beginning to know, exactly how your camera works.
THE ART OF SEEING | Origin Story
Once upon a time, there was a person named Alice. They met the world with curiosity and wonder, always wanting to learn more. They travelled across the land, down rabbit holes and visited many places that promised learning. But learning seemed to mean something very different there.
Alice found it rather odd how everyone was taught the same way, even though everyone learns differently. They also found it curious that there was an extraordinary amount of sitting required. Questions were inconvenient and wandering off to investigate something interesting was regarded as a crime.
This didn’t feel like learning.
So Alice left.
Over the years, Alice quietly built the place of learning they always wished for – and now it's here. Welcome to The Art of Seeing. Where Art is the only subject, both teacher and class is chosen by the student, and learning feels playful again.
The other ones, told me how to think. But the good ones taught me how to see.
