TAOS | Astrophotography Workshops Information
Relational Learning
Workshops are designed to meet people where they are. One-on-one sessions are highly adaptive and collaborative, shaped around each person’s goals, pace, experience level, and gear. Group workshops follow a shared story and learning experience, with guidance layered gradually throughout the session so participants can build confidence without feeling rushed.
Learning Through Experience
Photography is taught through direct experience, observation, and experimentation in real environments. Rather than memorising isolated settings, participants learn by seeing how light, timing, movement, and small adjustments change the final image in real time.
A Repeatable Framework
Workshops are guided through a simple framework that helps participants understand not only how to take a photograph, but how to build an image intentionally. Sessions explore the relationship between story, composition, light, timing, and atmosphere in a practical and approachable way.
Participants leave with practical techniques, observational skills, and a repeatable framework they can continue using independently in new locations, lighting conditions, and photographic situations.
Hands-On Exploration
Participants are encouraged to experiment, test ideas, and explore creatively throughout the session. By changing one variable at a time — such as shutter speed, light, focal length, or exposure — participants develop a deeper understanding of how their camera and environment work together.
Observation & Environment
Workshops are deeply connected to place and changing environmental conditions. As light shifts from sunset into night, participants are invited to notice the movement of the sky, changing atmospheric conditions, emerging stars and constellations, and the way the landscape transforms over time.
Building Confidence
Sessions are designed to make technical photography more approachable and less overwhelming for beginners. Complex ideas are introduced gradually through guided practice, repetition, and real-time support using the gear participants already have.
Creative Possibility
Photography is approached as both a technical and creative practice. Workshops encourage curiosity, experimentation, play, and personal interpretation, helping participants develop images that feel meaningful and uniquely their own.
