What and Who Is This Alice?
Alice Love is a multivalent, interdisciplinary artist, photographer, guide and storyteller, living in the land of Margaret River, Western Australia.
Alice has been quietly building a tremendous body of work, which is why they decided to create one home for it all – The World of Alice Love. It spans across all the domains that fascinate them: visual perception, psychology, art, neuroscience, language, music, storytelling, philosophy, and astrophysics. And of course, all laced with a diabolical sense of humour and adorned with colour.
The Current Chapter
Their most recent work is The Art of Seeing, Photography Education with in-person experiences held across the Margaret River Region. Alice has built an original framework STORY | SHAPE | ACTION™ for learning Photography, Photo Editing and Rendering that is a three step narrative-based system using the mechanism of Story.
Origin Story
Alice’s work repeatedly returns to thresholds and liminality. They are drawn to what they call the "Inbetween” – the space that connects the light and the dark, certainty and possibility, and the intersections of flow state, synesthesia and psychedelia.
For Alice, this is deeply personal. They survived a violent near-death experience at age 5. They describe this threshold as ‘the edge of the human experience’ and this profoundly shaped the way Alice relates to Time.
Typically known as an NDE, Alice prefers the term ‘Zero Star Event’ as they award it no stars and they, ‘Do not recommend.’
Art
My Margaret River holds fine art that shows the way Alice experiences Margaret River. Each piece -- their synesthetic perception of colour and their own unique method Neurochromatic Rendering™ to produce a memory.
